An inadvertent expat blogger behind Stone Stream Cabin

Hi, I'm Ana

I am a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Lisbon, Portugal.

A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.

How It Started

Moving to Portugal wasn’t in the plans for the long run. As with many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far bigger.

The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and fresh expectations. Daily tasks felt more complicated than they ought to be.

The Adjustment Period

There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet, gradually routines settled in. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.

Why I Built Stone Stream Cabin

Most information online was either corporate relocation guidance or lightweight tourism content. What was lacking was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.

This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Portugal.

What This Website Does (And Does Not)

This site is:

  • Hands-on insights from living in Portugal
  • Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
  • Updated when something meaningful changes

This site is not:

  • A tourism-board resource
  • Sponsored review site
  • A generic travel blog

Looking Ahead

Our stay in Portugal continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.

If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best regards,

Ana
